Good Habits Have Led To My Success

You know when I think about it, everything meaningful I’ve ever achieved in my life has been the result of developing good habits. Doing things regularly that are good for me, even when I REALLY don’t want to or think can't.

A few of my greatest accomplishments…

* Being in great shape at 48 years old, so I can live a long, happy and healthy life

* Having a thriving business that keeps me from having a job and allows many others to skip the J.O.B. as well.

* Better relationships with friends, family and most importantly, my kids…because what else is there?

So many times, I don’t want to or it's just difficult, but I do it anyway.

And other times, I give myself a little break, but realize that if I don’t get back on track FAST that things will slip too far.

I worked hard to achieve every milestone, I don’t want to undo the progress I have made.

But even if I do go back a little, I can always get back on track.

And that's the important part because many people self-sabotage when they think they've hit the point of no return. There is NO such thing as a point of no return. You can always get back on track, even if progress is slow.

I know other people are counting on me. They need me around, they need my help and they need me not to lose my if they screw up now and then.

But ultimately, I do it for myself because all this makes me happy.

The World Needs Compassion More Than Ever

On compassion.

It's the topic of report + planner pack (special offer ends today), but I personally chose the topic because I think it's so IMPORTANT and what we all really need so much right now.

And it kind of breaks my heart because if we all decided to be more compassionate, a lot of our problems would disappear.

The world NEEDS compassion more than ever.

On a grand scale, politics are tearing people apart and the only people that win are those in power. And it's not just in the US with the election looming. Politics has infiltrated so much and it's sometimes hard to see that most people really just want the same things as us, even if they see a different route to get there.

And in our daily lives, interpersonal relationships are under a lot of strain. We're all going through things right now and it's causing a lot of friction and people feeling they're being neglected or abandoned…when all we should be doing right now is coming together in understanding.

And it doesn't matter what aspect of life you or your clients are dealing with…compassion will help them get more of what they want. And at the same time, it also helps those around them get more of what they want.

It's a win-win…every single time.

That IS the beauty of compassion.

Compassion in business allows people to understand their own customers and clients better, so they can create better products and serve them better.

When the workplace is out of sync, everything falls apart and we get out of sync because we don't take the time to understand one another.

Families are dealing with a lot right now. Job loss, health concerns, school stress…not to mention the feeling of being cooped at home and sometimes perhaps being in too close quarters too often.

And we also need to be more compassionate with the most important person of all…ourselves. We’re our harshest critics and we let that critic take over, it makes it hard to find that happiness and success we desire.

If we can just slow down, be more patient with one another and ourselves, taking time to understand different perspectives, there is automatically more room for love, happiness and contentment.

On Creating Legacy – Some Thoughts

Creating a legacy.

I grow my business, not only to support my family in the present moment and in the future but more importantly, to show them the possibilities of living life on your own terms.

This is my daughter and me, in Paris, in 2019. Despite all the amazing memories, this is probably my favorite photo from the trip.

She's 12 now and is currently studying at home, rather than going to school. She doesn't want to go to school because she just doesn't want to go to school (typical, I'm sure), but I remind her, she's at home because I feel her safety is more important right now and I just simply don't think that formal school is that important over everything else.

And it's been a challenge, but one I'm taking seriously because if there's one thing I want to teach my children is that you have obligations in life, but there is no reason you can't fulfill them on your own terms and create the life you want in the process.

Some of the things we've been talking about…

Managing your time. If you have something you want to do on a Monday, but you're supposed to be working, you have the freedom to get that work done the day before, so you can do what you want.

Creating your own process where it makes sense and still makes sure you fulfill your obligation. I always loved reading, but when it's reading out of obligation, I learned to skim to find the answers and dig deeper when I needed more detailed answers.

Learning and developing the skills you want. Our teachers and our employers want specific things from us…and we definitely benefit from learning to please others as required. But the biggest benefits come from learning to please yourself and explore new ideas, knowledge and skills, so you can become exactly what you want to be.

Jump through hoops where you have to. Create your own hoops the rest of the time.

It’s The Little Things That Count

It's The Little Things That Count

Pay attention to the little things when you work toward your goals. Whether you want to grow your business, lose weight or accomplish just about anything.

All these goals we have in life require we develop good habits, but of course, we aren't robots. Sometimes we sway away from what we're doing, but this is where your power of observation comes in and allows you to course correct.

Enjoy and build on the tiny victories.

When traffic starts rolling in and the sales come, make sure you're tracking things - so you can see what's working and where you can do more of that. If you're trying to lose weight, notice and appreciate the tiny changes in your body...no matter how small. Keep working to create those tiny changes because over time, they're HUGE changes.

And the reverse is true.

When you see sales slow down...if you're tracking things, it's easy to see where you need to step up your efforts or try new things. Or when you see those tiny changes in your body go in reverse, that is when you have to nip it in the bud and get back to good habits.

The longer you wait, the harder it will be and you'll wonder how you got back where you are...but the reason is because you simply didn't care to pay attention.

This is me and my sister at my party on what must be my 4th birthday.

My sister took this box, cut a window in it and it was definitely my favorite gift that day. Of course, all the other kids loved it and wanted in it as well, so by the end of the day, it was kind of destroyed, but we had a grand time anyway.
