Help Your Clients Deal with Rejection and Persevere

Help Your Clients Deal with Rejection and Persevere with Their Goals

Overcoming Rejection

If you help your clients achieve their goals and improve their lives, there will be times where they'll deal with rejection. And for many, that's where they'll give up completely or move onto somewhere, but you can help them persevere and stay the course with their goals.

Listen to the quick article on dealing with rejection below and keep reading for tips on working with your clients.

Dealing with Rejection - Acceptance is Key

We learn at an early age that we don’t get everything we want. In other words, we have had to deal with rejection since then. This makes you think that people accept rejection easily. The exact opposite is usually true.

People start to develop an invisible shield against rejection. They may show anger or resentment to the people who are serving up the rejection. But, in many cases, it can show who is resilient and who is likely to continue until they get what they want.

No one likes to hear negative comments about themselves. People take it personally. However, knowing the reason for rejection can help change your direction. You can correct the aspects that made people reject you in the first place.

This won’t work with everything. For instance, if a person you are attracted to does not return the favor, it may be difficult or impossible to turn this around. Then again, there are numerous stories of people who persevered even when they were rejected time and again, and won the love of their lives.

Another instance where you may face rejection is during a job interview. Many candidates will pass this off as incompetence on the part of the interviewer, and there are certainly cases where this is true. But, you should always try to evaluate the reasons why the interviewer did not choose you. You’d be surprised at how few people even ask for the reasons. Interviewers won’t typically volunteer this information. Many will feel you don’t care if you don’t ask.

In many cases, rejection is not personal. You may not have the necessary skills when seeking a job, or you may not have enough experience, etc. In other cases, it may be somewhat personal, but it may be in your best interest to get rejected. For instance, if you don’t have an aggressive personality, do you want to pursue a career that requires one? If you are in sales, you need to have this driving personality to succeed.

Use rejection to your benefit. People who accept rejection and don’t give up are usually the ones who eventually get that acceptance. Sometimes, the very fact that you are persevering is what turns the tables from rejection to acceptance. Whose to say that next opportunity is not the one that will accept you? You won’t know unless you continue on your quest.

Notes from Alice: How to Work with Your Clients

Most people feel emotional, to varying degrees, upon being rejected, but it's important to look at the situation for what it is:

  • In many cases, it has nothing to do with them as an individual. Help your client understand that people have preferences, there are things going on in their own lives and it's usually not personal.
  • In some cases, it might be because your client is not a good fit. Where appropriate, encourage your client to seek constructive feedback, so that they can take rejection as an opportunity to improve, rather than a negative experience.
  • Life is often a numbers game and that's where perseverance comes in. Often we have to hear no several times before we get to a yes. Encourage your clients to dust themselves off, use the constructive feedback to improve and get back to work again.

And the best part of applying these strategies is the more your clients can do this, the easier the habit becomes. Soon, they'll be looking forward to those No's, so they can get to the Yes's faster.

How to Make Success a Habit

How to Make Success a Habit

Make Success a Habit

Once you experience success you will be able to look back and realize that you achieve all success pretty much the same way. You set a goal, follow through on the tasks needed to be done for achieving results, keep an open mind, learn from others, track your successes and learn from failure. It’s the same thing, over and over again. And it works.

If you want to create a pattern of success in your life, you can start now by learning the secret that successful people know. Successful people are only special because they are doers and follow through. They are not smarter than others; in fact it is entirely possible you are smarter on paper than they are. You just don’t follow through.

#1: Become a Goal Setting Expert

Start at the top and learn how to craft the best goals for yourself. Know that the goal is something that can be accomplished and know that the goal is measurable before you finish writing it. Most of all, make sure it’s a goal that you really want to achieve.

#2: Schedule Everything

People who achieve are doers. If you want to get something done, schedule it no matter how silly it might seem to you. If you put it in a schedule at a particular time, and not just on a generic “to do” list, it will be more likely that you get it done.

For instance, if you have set a goal to write a 80,000 word novel by a certain date, then you should know how many pages you need to get done each week and which days you can work on it, which times, hours, and how long it takes you to write a page. Successful writers write; they don’t wait for inspiration to strike. They schedule it, and do it. The same can be said for anything you want to achieve. You don’t wait until you want to do it; you do it on schedule.

#3: Automate the Mundane

There are a lot of things that need to be done but that can escalate easily into “busy work” which doesn’t get you closer to a goal. Bookkeeping for instance is something that can be accomplished today, with the right software, almost automatically. You can schedule payments to happen automatically; you can also use software that enters everything for you in the ledger. Freeing up time to focus on your scheduled activities that must be done to achieve the goal is a more productive use of time.

#4: Get Outside Expert Help

To be a success doesn’t mean you have to do everything yourself. You’re not on your own. The best scientists, professors, doctors, lawyers, and CEOs have assistants who help them look great. You too can hire outside help and contractors to help you do the tasks needed to reach your goals. Other than doing exercise for you and thing you must do physically for yourself, there isn’t much you can’t outsource today.

#5: Stop Reinventing the Wheel

In most cases, someone has already done it before you. Someone has already worked out the kinks and devised a plan of action that will work for you too with hardly any tweaks. Learn from other people’s mistakes and realize that you can gain valuable information from what others are already doing.

#6: Never Stop Learning

They say it takes ten thousand hours of reading about a topic to become an expert on any subject. Keep this in mind as you look toward your future and set your goals. If you want to be an expert, you’ll need to start today building up those ten thousand hours. Even if you know nothing about a topic today, you can be an expert in just ten thousand hours.

#7: Know Your Core Values

As you set goals to create a pattern of success, it's imperative that you know what your core values are in terms of family, personal, financial and your physical life. Everyone has different areas they need to work on more than others – you need to know what your areas are to set realistic goals that you want to meet.

#8: Track, Assess, Repeat

Nothing is ever done without the paperwork, as they say. Well, that includes creating a pattern of success. Only by setting goals, then tracking and assessing the results of the goals, and then repeating what works will you create a pattern of success.

Creating a pattern of success requires knowledge of goal setting, and goal achieving, and an in-depth knowledge of yourself. Starting today you can gain that knowledge and create a real pattern of success in your life.

Information Overload – The Power of Too Much Information

Information Overload – The Power of Too Much Information Building a Business

Information Overload

Information is everywhere. U.S. Assistant Attorney, Louis Freeh once said:

“Collecting intelligence information is like drinking water out of a fire hydrant.”

While you’re not likely collecting intelligence information, that’s what information overload is like…it's like drinking water from a fire hydrant. Much of it will spill out and be missed. The same can be said about information overload with your business.

Here are a few effects of information overload:

* Feeling Too Much Stress – One of the main symptoms of information overload is to feel stress. Some people say it feels like their brain is being so bombarded by information that as information goes in one side, it’s coming out the other. Stress keeps you from being focused and makes you worry that you don't have enough information to move forward in your business.

* Lack of Confidence – When there is so much contrary information available, it’s hard for people to choose the right course of action. For example, you might see numerous reports that email marketing is dead and that you should focus on social media only…but then other people are telling you that you should focus on email marketing first. How do you know what information is right and what is wrong, and how do you proceed? The lack of confidence can cause you from making any choices or feel unsure about the choices you're making with your business.

* Improper Information Filtering – When too much information is transmitted, the person receiving it often shuts off in a way. Normally the filtering process categorizes information as important or not important, but when there is too much there is often improper filtering called twigging. This essentially means that everything is general and all information is the same. To grow your business, you need to understand which information is crucial to you and what you can leave by the wayside. If you find yourself filtering it all out, you might be suffering from information overload.

* Taking on Too Much Too Fast – Sometimes information overload can make people feel as if they can multitask everything and do more than they can. But the truth is, as shown in study after study, humans aren’t designed for multitasking. If you're looking for new information to grow your business, focus on one strategy at a time. Don't read all the blogs or buy all the products…only digest what you need and leave the rest by the wayside.

In the end, how you consume and process information is up to you. Having a good idea about you want to put focus in your business  will help you make good information consumption choices. Just because people are talking about Facebook Chatbots or Shopify stores, it doesn't mean that information is relevant to you.

The Power of Positive Thinking and Your Business

The Power of Positive Thinking
and Your Business

We all know the phrase “power of positive thinking,” but have you ever thought about how it plays out in the success of your business?

It's HUGE and the more you can shift your mind to think positively, the more success you will find.

We all make mistakes and sometimes things just go wrong. Some people let it get them down. Successful business owners will say a mistake is not such a big deal and they'll figure out how to deal with it.

It's true that some people get mad at our mistakes and that can be upsetting. Customers get irate and we can let the upset us or we can look at those angry people and realize that anger is their issue and not ours. Most of our customers are kind and understanding people who will roll through those blips with us…and those are the customers we want anyway. The angry ones can move along and project on someone else, as far as I'm concerned.

I've always been of the mind that EVERY  PROBLEM HAS A SOLUTION and we can get through anything.

Anytime you can encounter something difficult in your business, don't get upset because things are going to happen. Instead, realize that it's a temporary setback and figure out how you can work around it.

For example, what do you do if product isn't going to be ready for launch?

Reevaluate and adjust your plan, so you can keep your launch date and release a viable product. Perhaps, you'll do some live training instead of writing or recording everything ahead of time. Perhaps, you'll drip feed some content. There are ALWAYS ways to figure things out.

Never tell yourself or anyone that you're having BAD DAY.

There are 24 hours in a day…it can't all be bad. I've definitely had challenging days and in the middle of it all, I might be a bit frazzled, but when you ask me at the end of the day how it was, I'll probably say it was pretty decent…because all the challenging stuff is behind me and in the midst of it all, some pretty awesome things happened.

Because every day is filled with things I can appreciate. Whether it's a beautiful sunset, the mountain view as I drive in traffic over the bridge, my 16 year old who texts me to say he loves me or my friend who sends me a really funny joke that makes me laugh so hard, I cry. Every day has these little things that add up.

So what about when you're about to try something new and you get worried you'll totally screw it up?

We've all been there, but that kind of thinking is pure self-sabotage. If you say that to yourself, you'll probably hold back in your efforts or you won't do it all. In other words, you predict your failure with your thinking.

You don't have to tell yourself you'll hit it out of the park. Not at all, but you can. All you HAVE to do is tell yourself that you'll give it your all and whatever happens happens. Because at the end of your pretty darned good day, if you screw it up, you're going to learn from it. Then on the next pretty darned good day, you can dust yourself off and do even better with the experience and knowledge you gained the day before.

I'll leave you with one final thought. When you find yourself thinking or saying something something negative, practice reframing it positively.

Recently, a friend was telling me about growing up in a family with 3 brothers. He told me that his parents weren't expecting a baby and he was a “mistake”.

I said, “You weren't a mistake. You were a surprise.”

So from here on in, look out for those surprises. They're often blessings in disguise.

How to Get Rid of Your Anxiety-Inducing Mind Clutter

How to Get Rid of Your
Anxiety-Inducing Mind Clutter

What we think becomes our reality and unfortunately, we are often our worst critics. All these stories we tell ourselves become clutter in our minds and keep us from achieving what we want.

I’m Alice Seba from Publish for Prosperity and through working with my clients and customers over the past 16 years, I’ve seen this firsthand many times, but luckily I’ve got some tips to help you get rid of that anxiety-inducing mind clutter.

Here's an Excerpt from Our Minimize to Maximize Training That Addresses This Issue…

Now let’s look at what’s going on in our minds. Earlier in the training, we touched on our love affair with stuff. The more stuff we have, the more responsibility we have and the more our mind is cluttered with the stuff we have to do.

Same with the expectations we’ve allowed society to place on us. That we should be married. That we should have kids. That we should…whatever.

Add to that, we allow our minds to be cluttered with the stories we tell ourselves. Your thoughts take control over you and keep you from achieving what you really want to achieve.

I've always been an overthinker. And even now, I still am…and it has its benefits. It enhances my creativity, allows me to be empathetic to others and keeps me from being too impulsive…which is one of my weaknesses too.

But I've made sure that all these thoughts don’t hold me back from achieving what I want to achieve.

I let all those thoughts come in and then…I let them go.

I see them for what they are.

Sometimes they are insightful thoughts that help me move forward.

Sometimes they are made up stories that have no basis in reality…although in the past I would have believed they did.

Because in reality, I can do anything I want and I can be as successful as I want. It’s only the stories I tell myself or the stories I believe from others that keep me from getting to where I want to be.

Same with you. What stories do you tell yourself?

• That you’re not as smart as other people?
• That you’re not as good looking?
• That you’re not good with money?
• That you’re not very organized?
• That you can’t lose weight?
• That you aren’t cut out to be an entrepreneur?

All those things you tell you become your reality. So stop telling yourself those stories and switch them to positive things instead. And even if you can’t say “I’m good with money” At least tell yourself, “I’m learning to manage money and I’m making improvements every day.”

And of course, not all these positive stories are going to work on their own. Yes, if you tell yourself you’re smart or good looking…over time, you will build that self-confidence. But if you say you’re getting better with money, you better darned well put the work in for it.

Because that’s going to be key here. I’m sharing all kinds of ways to change your mindset and that is a HUGE part of the battle, but you’ve got to do the work. Develop the good habits. Get back on the wagon when you fall off and be ready to keep focused.

How to Recognize, Avoid and Recover from Shiny Object Syndrome

How to Recognize, Avoid and Recover from Shiny Object Syndrome

It happens to all of us. We set a goal…whether it be to start a profitable business, lose weight or save money…and then suddenly something interesting with big promises captures our attention and keeps us from staying focused on our goals. These are shiny objects and they are a killer of productivity and success.

Hey, I’m Alice Seba from Publish for Prosperity and through working with my clients and customers over the past 16 years, I’ve seen this firsthand, but luckily I’ve got some tips to help you avoid those pesky shiny objects.

Here's an Excerpt from Our Minimize to Maximize Training That Addresses This Issue…

This is all about saying no too (which we learned about earlier in the training), but this time it’s usually to yourself.

Shiny Objects are where we lose our focus on our career, business, health or just about any type of goal. We see something that looks like a great idea and we totally veer off in a different direction, usually never following through on what we planned.

For example:

  • You buy training programs that promise you instant riches or quick ways to make more money, even though they aren’t part of your original plan.
  • You get sucked into a new diet product that promises to end your cravings and get you results effortlessly.

Following through often doesn’t happen:

  • Because we are excited about the idea at first, but then it fizzles out.
  • It’s not in line with what our goals are.
  • We overwhelm ourselves with too many ideas and possibilities.
  • We overwhelm ourselves with too much in our schedule because we can’t get everything done.
  • And let’s face it, a lot shiny objects are just plain old lies.

The cure:

  • Set your goals and know where you really want to go. Only do things that are in line with those goals. For example, in my business I see a lot of other business owners get distracted with brand new marketing techniques or entirely different business ideas that completely take their focus away from what they’ve steadily been building.
  • If you seem to get distracted when things seem to be taking longer than you want, set smaller goals and reward yourself for those milestones. Rewards will depend on what you achieved and shouldn’t sabotage your goal (like a big piece of cake after losing 5 pounds), but just nice things you do for yourself. I like to take myself out to lunch, see movies etc.
  • Be more discerning. Never buy on impulse. Do your research and take time to think. Limited time offers are good for the people selling, but not for you because they cause you to make impulsive decisions.
  • Get an accountability partner…and better yet an accountability partner who is skeptical. Discuss your new ideas and potential shiny objects with the before you jump in. Be there for each other and look out for one another’s best interests.
  • Eliminate distractions that bring these shiny objects to you. If you’re on a ton of health lists or follow a bunch of people on social media that are always pulling you this way and that…turn them off.
  • Investing in yourself and improving yourself is a good idea, but realize that when you keep spending money on these shiny objects, you’re making yourself work harder and you’re putting your time freedom out of balance. Invest wisely and you’ll keep growing…but do it willy nilly and you’ll find yourself broke or in debt.
  • The only way to actually achieve your goals is through consistency, hard work and staying on track. It’s not easy to build a business. It’s not easy to get your career to exactly where you want it. There are no shortcuts to losing weight and getting healthy. Sometimes that’s a hard pill to swallow, but it will serve you much better than actual diet pill.

If you screw up:

It is not the end of the world and we all make mistakes. The important thing is to learn from them and course correct to get back on track. This is always key. Be patient, stay consistent and let results come. When you sabotage yourself, recognize it and get back to your plan.

Our Love Affair with Stuff and How it Sabotages Your Success

Our Love Affair with Stuff and How Materialism Actually Sabotages Your Success

Most of us live in a materialistic world that tells us we need stuff. We need stuff not only for personal satisfaction and entertainment, but for status and societal expectations. All that results in spending way too much money and having too many things we’re responsible for. Because the more responsibility you have, the more STRESS you’re going to have…and the more expenses you’ll have over time due to the need for maintenance, etc.

It really is a vicious cycle.

Here's an Excerpt from Our Minimize to Maximize Training That Addresses This Issue…

Let's look at how this plays out in our lives and how it can really sabotage our success, peace of mind and happiness.

For example, if you have a house and a yard…you’ve got to keep everything maintained. That’s a lot of work…plus equipment and services you’ll need to pay for over time. Of course, if that is a priority to you, by all means…I’m not going to try to change your mind…but it’s something to be conscious of.

Add to that, think about how these added stresses affect your relationship and other areas of your life if you're worried about money and too busy to do other things.

Last year, I personally went from homeowner to proud condo dweller and I absolutely love it. I no longer have to clean (or have a housekeeper clean) 3000 square feet of space. I don’t have to worry about a lawn. I also don’t have all that extra space to bring more stuff into. Now I have to think about all my purchases and decide if I really need them.

And then think about all the toys and status symbols we accumulate. Maybe you have a boat that you planned to use every weekend, all summer, but you don’t and you still have to maintain it. Maybe your kids convinced you that pool was a great idea, not realizing just how much work they really are.

In my apartment, we have a tennis court, pool, golf simulator, gym and all kinds of stuff I can use when I want and other than monthly fees that are shared among residents, I have NO responsibilities to maintain it.

Again, not trying to convince you, but trying to give you a new perspective. Think about all the STUFF in your life that gives you stress. Is it worth it?

For me, the stuff isn’t worth it and I’ve learned to focus on experiences. They don’t create clutter (avoid the souvenirs!!!) and they are even more life enriching. Living in apartment has allowed me to travel more and go off and do whatever I feel like…almost anytime I feel like it. And sure, travel can be expensive…but when you clear out the stuff and ongoing expenses in your life, you have more money. Plus, we’re going to talk about your hourly worth shortly and you’ll see more room for improvement there.

How you experience life is up to you. It might be travel. It might be pampering yourself. It might be enjoying concerts, culinary experiences or the theatre. It doesn’t matters…it’s up to you how you enrich your life. Yoga classes, martial arts, art classes…whatever.

And think about it. That boat you wanted and have to keep paying for to upkeep gives you just one experience and you probably aren’t having that experience as much as you’d planned. Think about how much more variety of experiences you can have with the same amount of money…or less!

But I get it, we want to look good. We’ve worked hard and we want to show our worth with our beautiful home and toys. That’s something that’s hard to let go of, but the less you care what other people think, the happier you’re going to be.

And think about it, who is the person you’d be more interested in talking to? Someone who has all the toys or someone who gets out there and does stuff and shares their experiences. You know it’s the latter. Opt to be an interesting person, rather than a status symbol.

And let’s talk about another added benefit to experiencing stuff…you’re more likely to be active and healthy. Of course, if your experiences are traveling the country to find the best fried culinary delights, that may work against you. But my point is you become a whole person who can choose an activities that are good for your brain and body…all without adding extra burdens to our lives.

How to Do Less and Get More Accomplished

How to Get More Done by Doing Less…
in Two Easy Steps!

When it comes to getting things done, most people work themselves just too darned hard. They unnecessarily take on too high expectations of themselves and work themselves into a stressed out mess. And when things go awry, instead of turning things around…they just make it worse. I've got a solution to all of this for you.

Here's an Excerpt from Our Minimize to Maximize Training That You Might Like

People often ask me how do you get so much done? And my answer is “by doing less!”

This is a philosophy I carry everywhere I go and with everything I do.

In session 1 of the Minimize to Maximize Your Life Training, we discussed hourly worth and outsourcing tasks and that’s just the first part of this. I outsource most business tasks, leaving me to focus on product planning and marketing. In my personal life, I have a housekeeper and happily hire people to do things that reduce my hourly worth or just plain old don’t like to do them. And of course, I have children for chores and if I’m putting something together in my personal life, I have learned to ask for help, instead of just trying to do everything myself. It took me a while to learn that lesson that people are often happy to help, but I'm getting there.

BUT here’s how I manage my daily life…outside of what I’ve hired or enlisted other people to do.

It’s so simple, but it’s something most people don’t think about.

BE OKAY WITH LESS WHEN IT GETS YOU THE RESULTS YOU WANT.

Let me explain.

We all make these grand plans. Whether we’re throwing a party, preparing for a product launch or organizing something at work. We imagine the ideal and we make plans around that.

And then when we put the plan into practice and find it’s not going well, we usually do a few things:

• Stress out like crazy
• Postpone and move deadlines
• Try to complete as much of our plan as possible, without bothering to make adjustments…resulting in an unfinished result.

Here’s what I do instead:

• Make the original plan.
• See how it is in practice. If I see I’m going to run out of time, I make drastic adjustments that will still result in a good end result instead of a half finished one (I’ll give an example in a second)
• Then I learn from the example and stop overdoing it when I do something similar next time.

Let’s go through a couple examples…

Arranging a party – I used to be really horrible for this. I TOTALLY overdid things and wanted everything perfect. Then I’d become a nightmare as the date came closer. I’d expect things of my husband and would get frustrated when he told me all this wasn’t necessary. I thought he was telling me that because he just didn’t want to help, but really he was RIGHT.

If you’re throwing a party, all that really matters is that your guest have a good time. That can be done with simple food, drinks and a guest list of fun people…and for you to be fun and connect people at your party while they’re there. If you’re too busy running around, you can’t even do that. Decorations aren’t necessary or just keep it simple.

Here’s how I run parties now. I don’t cook, even though I actually love cooking. I order platters that get delivered from my grocery store or order dinner in. Now that comes with an expense, so if you’re on a budget, do a potluck and have everyone brings something small. Or if I do cook, I’ll make something that can be made ahead of time…like lasagna or something that doesn’t need me in the kitchen watching during the party.

And dammit, I’ll use paper plates and compost them if there are a large number of guests. Plastic cutlery goes into the dishwasher and gets used again.

It is more important that I’m part of the party than I try to impress my guests with food, decorations and everything else and then end up busy the whole time.

Think about the things you overdo in your life. Can you see some of the tendencies I just mentioned in what you do and how you can simplify things and fix them?

Now, let’s look at an example from my business.

A product launch – Whenever I launch a new product, there is a ton of stuff involved. I have to come up with the product idea and marketing plan. The product needs to be made, I have to make a sales page and the marketing plan needs to be executed.

Of course, you can bet I’ve already outsourced a lot of this and through experience, I know how much time is required to complete each piece, so I can confidently plan that. But I wasn’t always there. Sometimes I did the work…and I’m not always totally reliable to get busy work done (eye roll)… or I didn’t have a reliable team so I’d have to make adjustments. And really, when I first started creating products, I approached it like I did my parties, I overdid it. I imagined the most perfect, ideal product, but it wasn’t really feasible.

So I’d have to adjust. I’d have to look at everything I wanted included and figure out what was a must have, a nice to have, a not needed and change the plan. What would make my customers happy to pay the amount of money I was asking for? That’s all I needed to do. I could add stuff later and surprise my customers if I wanted…which is a great idea for customer satisfaction and strengthening a product offer later.

But most people would probably just postpone their launch deadline, working way harder than they have to and delaying their profits, so they could actually afford to give more to their customers.

I never change my launch dates. Okay, never say never, but it would be a very rare case where it needed to be done. Instead, I change my plan to meet the deadline and that is how you get stuff done without all the headache and stress.

We are our worst critics and we have the highest expectations of ourselves. Think about the people you’re serving instead…they probably really don’t care about all those little details that have you in a tizzy.

How to Calculate Your Hourly Worth and Increase It

How to Calculate Your Hourly Worth and Increase It for More Freedom in Your Life

If you really want to know what your time is worth, this video shows you exactly how to do that. It also shows you how to stop wasting so much time and how to potentially increase your hourly worth, so that you can find more freedom in your life to do the things you love.

Here's an Excerpt from Our Minimize to Maximize Your Life Training:

Here’s an exercise that I think everyone should do. If you’re an entrepreneur, this is a really eye-opening opportunity to set yourself up for making a whole lot more money. If you’re an employee, you may be constrained by your salary, but if one of your goals is to improve your career…you have growth possibilities too.

As an employee making a certain amount, divide your salary by about 2000…which is the number of hours you work less a couple of week’s vacation. Or if you’re not working full time or have more vacation, make those adjustments in how you calculate. So if you make $75K per year, you earn roughly about $37.50 per hour.

So that means when you look at a lot of things you do in your life, you can see that you may be wasting time and not leveraging your hourly worth to the fullest.

For example, if you spend 2 hours going to the grocery store, shopping for groceries, coming home and bringing groceries to your house, you might be better off ordering online and having someone bring the groceries to your home.

Or carrying on with the grocery store example, if you take time to scan flyers to see which stores have the best deal and you end up splitting up your shopping experience…consider the time you’re putting into all of that.

Of course, you need to evaluate what is most important for you…TIME or MONEY. You also need to consider whether you tend to spend more money than you have…because if you do, it’s going to be a lot harder for you to make these time over money saving decisions. Well, at least until you have decluttered your life and you find yourself spending less. THEN these types of decisions will be easier for you to make.

Now, if you’re an entrepreneur, this determining your hourly worth is a good tool for actually INCREASING your worth. You can do the same exercise and decide how much you make per hour on average by looking at your earnings over the last year or so. Of course, you want to make more per hour, so set a goal.

Let’s say you average about $25 per hour when you calculate how many hours you put into your business (many entrepreneurs go well beyond the 40 hours). You can do the same daily decisions…on groceries. Or if you’ll drive further to save a bit more on gas. Or if you’re going to bake a cake for a party or buy one.

But you can also strategically plan how to earn more. To start with, you should start outsourcing any tasks you can hire someone to do for $25 per hour or less. That could be answering customer emails, writing content, simple bookkeeping, tons of stuff. As you outsource those items, you tend to focus on the higher level activities of your business like planning, marketing, etc..those tasks that actually make you money. As you do this more and more, you’ll earn more.
