Tailor Your Communication to the Media Platform

Tailor Your Communication to the Media Platform

It's an interesting world we live in...we have so many platforms to communicate with our audience, but none are exactly the same.

If you're broadcasting the exact same thing on all platforms, you may selling yourself short. A few minutes of effort to fine-tune your message to the platform can make a world of difference.

Pay attention to what people respond to on each platform. If we're talking social media, your Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter audiences will all be different. All these platforms give you analytics, so pay attention and make adjustments to increase your engagement and results.

This can be the type of content they respond to. Experiment and see what they like. For example, in the dog niche, our Facebook audience is a whole lot of fun and loves to respond with comments...so I ask lots of questions where I don't do that as much on other platforms.

It can be as simple as that.

You will probably notice different things that will give you an in with a particular audience.

And HOW you say stuff is critically important.

What you send by email will be different than what you put in your Facebook Group. Email is more formal and commercial. So if you want to share a commercial message in your group or even on your page, you'll probably do it in a more conversational, softer style.

Same with your blog...if you have one. Do people still have them? LOL, I guess I do. It's also more conversational. It is NOT the same as email, but it's probably okay to be more directly promotional than on social media.

But of course, your results may vary. Pay attention to your audience and adjust accordingly.

Growing Your Online Business Can Be Done In One Hour Per Day

Growing Your Online Business Can Be Done In One Hour Per Day

A lot of people think growing your online business has to be hard, complicated or too much work.

But it's not. You can even do it in less than an hour a day. So even if you have a job, family to attend to or other priorities, you can still build your audience, get more sales and connect with your audience every single day.

It's really simple actually and can be boiled down to three simple tasks. Focus on these and do just one thing each day in each group and reap the rewards.

1. Do one thing to grow your audience.

2. Do one thing to get more sales.

3. Do one thing to connect to your audience on a personal level.

Some of you have seen this before and I hope you've been able to put it into practice in some way. Feel free to check in below with with what you've done.

Here is a link to a BUNCH of ideas in each category for you.

Specific Benefits Will Trigger Sales

Specific Benefits Will Trigger Sales

When you're trying to sell something, specificity is your friend.

When your customer is considering your product, it can be just one tiny little thing that convinces them to click the add to cart button...so give them plenty of specific benefits, so that something will trigger that buying impulse.

  • If you save them money, tell them how much.
  • If you save them time, tell them how much.
  • If you help them get results faster, say how much faster that can be. (you can't always promise the results, but you can give them an example of how it could work)
  • If you help the cultivate better behavior in their child, give them specific examples of better behavior they can see.

Bullet points are an amazing tool for this, so don't be shy about making long bulleted lists of benefits in your sales pages and promos. They're easy to scan and your customer will take note of something that catches their eye.

It can make a world of difference in your conversion rates, so if you need something to do today, go write some bullet points. And if you need some feedback, just ask.

Would You Like To Break Into A New Niche?

Would You Like To Break Into A New Niche?

Struggling to hit the next level or figure out how to break into a new area or niche?

Leverage the resources you have!

I know we all dread the friends that join a multi-level marketing company and you know they're going to come calling because they are ALSO told to leverage their resources...which includes friends and family.

Well, you can still do this without being an annoying pest and calling on the unwilling.

Now you probably have a unique situation and you'll need to brainstorm what resources you already have and how you can leverage them, but for example, you could...

Organize an online event (or when it's okay again, in person) where you can call on your associates to donate prizes, share their expertise and/or promote your event, in return for you promoting them. Fun events...especially ones for good causes...can help you solidify the those connections, expand your reach AND allow you to do some really good work helping others.

Or instead of trying to troll your contacts for new customers, give them your products for free and ask if they would give you their feedback or even write a review (without obligation).

To figure out what you could do, make a long list of the resources you have.

Write down the names of colleagues, affiliates, friends, your subscribers, your customers, anyone.

Beside each person, list what their resources are that you could benefit from.

But then, more importantly, list what they NEED and how you could possibly help them.

Then come up with a plan to make it happen, always leading authentically with what's in for them.

Do you need help brainstorming your resources and how you can leverage them? The comments are below is yours.

Stop Looking For The Next Shiny Object

Stop Looking For The Next Shiny Object

Let's have some real talk.

I talk to people who tell me a variation of this aspiring entrepreneurial story all the time…

“I have spent so much money trying different programs and nothing seems to work.”

If you've said any version of this, I want you to succeed…so let me tell you a LIE you tell yourself.

First things first. STOP spending money on courses, programs. etc. You probably ALREADY have enough on your hard drive to become a success many times over.

While I'm sure there may be some duds in the programs you bought, most of them (if not all) probably work…if you do the work.
When you're so busy jumping around, you are just filling your head with knowledge, but you aren't applying it in any way that allows for your success.

I will be completely honest with you, starting an online business in 2020 is WAY harder than it was when I started in 2002…so you're probably going to have to work harder (well, smarter. – let me help you with that smart piece).

It may take some time to find your niche. To discover who your ideal target audience. And what products you will sell.
But the great thing that hasn't changed about the Internet is that you can experiment, throw things at the wall and it doesn't have to cost a lot, but if you learn from those experiences and adapt, you will have an invaluable education that leads to remarkable results.

You can connect with us inside the Facebook group. It doesn't cost you a thing to get some feedback and advice. Stop looking for the next shiny object. Use the resources and connections you've got.

So tell me…how can I help you?

Focus On The Good Honest And Customers

Focus On The Good And Honest Customers

So I've been thinking about customer service a lot lately.

Like first with huge companies like Facebook that essentially provide no customer service or very poor automated service.

But what I'm currently REALLY intrigued by is the automated customer service from Door Dash which assumes the customer is right and fixes things automatically to please the customer. There is obviously potential for abuse, but I'm guessing they do this because it is much more cost-effective for them to do things this way and it provides a better customer experience.

Here's an example of how their customer service works...

We got an order and the guy didn't read the apartment number so he called to ask what it was. Somehow he misunderstood me and dropped the food off on a different floor (they text you a picture with the food at the door). I have no idea how he got to that floor because the security in my building gives me no access to that floor.

So I put in a help request. I said the food wasn't delivered and their support system asked if I wanted them to deliver it again. I said okay and another order was on the way, no questions asked.

But lol, when the next order arrived, there were items missing. So I go and report those and then it asks me if I want a $5.83 credit for the items missing and I say okay and I have a credit in my account, no questions asked.

That's amazing and perhaps very smart. Because when I compare it to customer service with Skip the Dishes, they essentially do the same thing (they believe the customer), but you have to talk to someone and go through a longer process to resolve the issue.

As a customer, I love this automated stuff because it's fast and it's done. And as a business owner, they save a lot of money on customer service...as long as people don't abuse the system.

I mean, I don't think I'm anywhere near automated customer service, but I do think sometimes it's just simpler to let the customer be right. The more hoops they have to jump through, the more work it creates for us and we sour their experience.

It's abundance thinking at work, I believe. Focus on the GOOD and HONEST customers and more will come.

You Can Create A Massive Library Of Content And Assets

You Can Create A Massive Library Of Content And Assets

You know, as you continue to work on your business, you create this MASSIVE library of content and assets. But sadly, most of us just keep publishing and NEVER actually maximize all that stuff we ALREADY have.

But I'll tell you something that will be HUGE timesaver for you and ensure that you can easily reuse and repurpose your content.

Keep a content and asset inventory.

We keep spreadsheets for all our products funnels, free opt-in offers, blog posts and other useful content. And these documents are INVALUABLE to my business.

I'm able to keep track of when we promoted specific items and figure out if it's time to get it out there again. I'm able to find something to promote or repurpose quickly.

I highly encourage you to do this with your business. And definitely, it can be a big job if you haven't been doing this all along, but hire a VA (check our service provider thread in the pinned post) and have them get you all caught up. Then all you have to do is maintain it.

I'm attaching a few screenshots from our inventories. They're super simple and you can make them as complex and detailed as you want, if you're a spreadsheet nerd.

Are You Overwhelmed With Too Many Things To Do?

Are You Overwhelmed With Too Many Things To Do?

So what do you do when you feel like you have too much to do and aren't sure where to start and aren't even sure you have enough time to get things done?

My instinct is often to do nothing. It's human nature to make no choice when faced with too many choices.

But I fight that urge and realize that's the time to sit down and take stock of what I need to do. What can wait? What needs my attention now? And what can I delegate?

AND when it comes to business, it's also important to prioritize those money tasks and that's where I usually start. Get those emails and promotions out and then work on the other tasks.

But the most important thing to remember is when you feel too busy, that is the PRECISE time you need to stop for a minute and take 5-10 minutes to organize your plan…or you'll still be spinning in circles at the end of the day.

How  do you manage when things get a bit hectic?

Public Speaking Can Easily Be Done Even For Introverts

Public Speaking Can Easily Be Done Even For Introverts

For the introverts and those who hate public speaking.

Preparing for a class has evolved so much for me in the past year or so and has become so much easier and less stressful. If you’re a little introverted and don’t care for public speaking, you might appreciate this. And hey, there might be a little something in it for you extroverts as well.

I used to write detailed notes and scripts for anything I was going to record with my voice or speak in public. As a writer, I knew I could put together a great presentation that hit on all the right points and included all the right stories.

It was a lot of work. The end result was often pretty polished (unless I was on camera or in person then no…not polished at all lol), but inevitably I would trip on my words somewhere or technology would flub me up and my true awkward self would appear.

Over the past year or so, I’ve made a commitment to ditch the scripts and forget the detailed notes and just let things flow. I might have slides that cue me on what to say or bullet points note to help me out, but mostly I fly by the seat of my pants.

As many people told me when I struggled with public speaking, I know my material. I should just deliver it.

And you know what? I still trip over my words and technology and my true awkward self appears. Every. Time.

Lol, but it’s a lot less work and it’s an incredible skill I’ve learned. Just to speak on something and let it flow.

Most importantly, it’s a LOT LESS stressful. I just get ‘er done and that’s that. Wouldn’t speaking without stressing about it be such a blessing?

And of course, I could take courses to polish that up, but it’s not in the cards for me right now as I’m focusing on other things.

But I love awkward me. It’s part of my charm, I’m sure because you guys keep showing up for my classes and for that, I am most grateful.

What Problem Can You Solve For Your Customers?

What Problem Can You Solve For Your Customers?

If you're still sitting on that info product idea or project in progress, can I give you a little nudge to get ‘er done?

FIRST – realize it will never ever be perfect and perfect is never what you should strive for. All you need to do is solve a specific problem for your customers or serve a specific need. That's it, give them enough to help them achieve a goal and you're good.

Now your steps to getting it done:

* Tell your customers and affiliates your release date. There's nothing like built in accountability.

* Revamp your to-do list. If you keep pushing your launch date because the product isn't “perfect”…change that to do list. It's better to stick with a launch date and create a simple product that your customers can use. You can add all the extra bells and whistles later and give them as surprise bonuses to your customers…they'll love it!
